Truckin' Through Some Country side Scenery

Truck games - after watching the movie Transformers, I got a kick out of trying out some of the online truck games that were on offer. Mad Truckers, Monster Trucks, Extreme Trucks, Dune Buggies ...the options were almost endless. While all the games dealt with "trucks", the variations of the same would really blow your mind. At one end there were the small pick-up vehicles wile at the other were the really huge multi-rig behemoths. Playing these games really is a hoot - anyone who likes to think of themselves as a macho and mean driver wouldn't want to be on any other game site than this.

Here's picking up on one of the games I played, Mad Truckers on Line:
Game: The intention of this game is supposed to be to crash a semi or full trailer (rig) at very high speeds into anything and everything the player (you) sees on the road. You want to get back at your boss, after having a no holds barred argument with him. The reason being that while you are working your pants off night and day with a minimum pay packet, the boss is keeping most of the earnings sitting at home and not sharing any of it with you.
Instructions: This was definitely limited and could have been more elaborate, which in turn would have added to the overall fun. As regards the game controls, suggesting the use of the mouse and / or cursor keys to move the truck and to get on with the game was a bit too simple and therefore a little confusing. Highlighting the keys and / or buttons required to play the game and pointing out which performed what activity would have helped.
Graphics: Neat, but in comparison with some of the similar games I got a chance to play, it could have been better. Image sizes were small and the overall layout could have been more colourful. While the initial stages were simple to navigate and helped build interest in the game, as more time elapsed playing, parts of it turned out to be boring.
Sound: Again, a bit of a disappointment with simple background muzak playing on a short loop. There weren't any special effects either in the sound or when the rig crashed into something or went off the road or did anything out of the ordinary other than stay on the road. Complexity: Simple and straightforward, good for beginners. Overall I got the impression that the game was designed quite a few year's back or that the designer hadn't put their heart into it!
Rating: I would tend to give this game a slightly better than average score, say a maximum of 6 on a scale of 1 to 10

So, this game was not so macho or mean after all. Good practice run, bit I am always looking for a bit of challenge to sink my teeth into. So the Mad Truckers were simply that - a little mad, a lot of truck, but not enough to count as a true "Transformer"!
